BCP offers many regularly scheduled weekly rides. Occasionally, ad-hoc rides are announced. These rides are sent by email to all members of the BCP email list. To join this list, click here.     Sat March 22, 2025 - RIDE CLOSED Early Bird Ride to Coffee in Ambler: Rehab Edition (ad-hoc ride)

    Level C: 12.5-13mph, 48 +/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:25 am. Assemble at 8:25. Depart at 8:30 SHARP! This will be the first ride I will lead since my Sept. 10 left hip revision surgery necessitated by a bicycle mishap (operator error) in Chicago. We will ride through East Fairmount Park, East Falls, Wyncote, and Flourtown to Wake in Ambler (at mile 22 or so) for 35-minute coffee stop (it’s all about the coffee), then return via Lower Gwynedd and Manayunk. Approx. 2,200 feet of climbing. Will regroup as necessary, but riders are expected to achieve posted speed (i.e., what our computers show as avg. at end of ride).     Levels B: 15mph, 55 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. An extra special ride out to Malvern with Andrew rejoining us. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube, tire irons and multi-tool. Typically Andrew &/or Nick leads and Simon sweeps and, if needed, leads a slower pace ride. Check daily listing for route information. During the summer season there is an optional after-ride drink at the Waterworks beer garden. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Pre-registration preferred. Various friendly rides ranging 30 - 65 miles (Off Season) 40 – 85 miles (In Season) with occasional century rides. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace.     Sat March 22, 2025 - RIDE CLOSED Berwyn to the Brandywine Tandem Ride

    Level Tandem: 13mph, 43 miles. Meet at 1190 Beaumont Rd, Berwyn, PA 19312. The tandem ride leaves at 9:30 am. Weekend tandem ride with singles welcome. Start location at the Menendez home (1190 Beaumont Rd, Berwyn, PA). Ride on quiet, scenic roads to West Chester and the Brandywine River valley. Return to Berwyn on the Chester Valley Trail. 2313 ft of climb per ride with GPS. Coffee/snack break at mile 16 and 29. No drops. Pre-registration required. Bring water, snacks, and picnic lunch for after the ride. Lights required for tunnel on Valley Creek Road. Ride will leave promptly at the posted ride time. No drops.     Level C- through D: 11-12mph, 45 miles. Meet at Ardmore Farmers Market . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Lets get out on the 2nd day of spring for a familiar ride to Wegmans in KOP for lunch . Route will mostly be flat as some of us need to shake off those winter cobwebs. Ride will be cancelled if that day's temperature is not going higher than 45 degrees F , or if its raining outside the KYW studio 1 hour prior to our departure time. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Sun March 23, 2025 - Sunny Sunday D Ride

    Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum.. The ride leaves at 1:00 am. Casual paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond for those new to group riding, or returning to riding after a layoff, or just wanting to have fun riding without racing through the streets of Philadelphia. Please bring extra tube and tools to fix a flat, water, proper dress for the weather, sunscreen, and $ for mid-ride snack stop. Please wear helmet (required by the club.). There might be a hill or two, but we will stop to catch our breath at the top of the hill. Preregistration is required, please preregister by Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 12:00 pm.

    Sun March 23, 2025 - Sunday AM Early Spring Hike in the Pennypack Trust

    Hike Moderate Pace on Moderate Trails, 5-6 miles. Meet at Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, 2955 Edge Hill Rd · Huntingdon Valley, PA. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Sunday, March 23: Hiking in the Pennypack Restoration Trust. Let's revisit the pretty and scenic trails and meadows which we explored on the Muellers' hike, back in January. The Pennypack Trust is a very peaceful nature preserve, loved by (and served by as a dedicated volunteer) long-time BCP & SCU member Lori Voltmer, who sadly passed away recently. The Preserve provides great views of the Pennypack Creek, and nearby horse farms. Approximately 5-6 miles. Please bring sturdy hiking/walking shoes. Hiking poles are recommended. Please bring your camera, also, to capture the pretty scenery. Rest rooms are available at the meeting point (the parking lot of the Visitors Center). START/FINISH: Pennypack Trust parking lot & Visitor Center is on Edge Hill Rd, between Lundy Lane and Huntingdon Rd, across the road from the June Fete Fairgrounds. PUBLIC TRANSIT: Nearest train station is Bethayres, serving the West Trenton Line. Leader can pick up a hiker at the Bethayres station. Preregistration is required, please preregister by Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 9:30 am.

Usually 25-35 miles with a lunch or snack stop. Some climbing is required. It is optional, but you may preregister until Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 11:00 am.

    Levels D: 10mph, 21/25 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park visitor center lower parking lot. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. We ride the SRT and Cross County Trail to Conshy or Plymouth Meeting (or other locations) for coffee with fellow cyclists. Ride is open to meet riders from Philly or elsewhere. If you are planning a ride and want to meet up for coffee along the way, text leader morning of ride. Note: If you are new to group riding, this is a great ride for you.     Level D: 10mph, 30 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Lets go Schuylkill River Trail to the Cross County Trail to the Barnes and Noble where there is a coffee bar. Return via Germantown Pike, Butler Pike and Spring Mill. If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.     Tue March 25, 2025 - Tuesday Ride to Lower Merion- ARDMORE

    Level C- through D: 10.5mph, 20-30 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. This is a generic description of the ride which will go to one of three destinations every Tuesday:GET Cafe in Narberth; Farmers’ Market in Ardmore or Spread Bagelry in Wynnewood. Some climbing of 800 to 1000 feet. First part of ride will generally mean a climb into Fairmount Park, across the Strawberry Mansion Bridge up to Chamounix. And then proceed up Bryn Mawr Avenue. and on to our final destination of Narberth, Ardmore or Wynnewood. On an ad hoc basis we may include new destinations and advance notice will be provided along with details. Always a fun group of friendly people so come on out! Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level Tandem: 13mph, 37.5 miles. Meet at Northbrook Market 1805 Unionville Wawaset Rd, West Chester, PA 19382. The tandem ride leaves at 10:00 am. Weekly tandem ride with singles welcome. Scenic route on quiet roads in western Chester County. Chester County does have hills - total climb on this route is 2200 ft. The scenery is worth the climb! No drops! Bring water and snacks for rest stops along the way as needed. Optional lunch at Northbrook Market after the ride - good food and apple cider donuts! The start location is Northbrook Market - Please park behind the store. Ride will leave promptly at the posted ride time. No drops. Cue sheets will not be available.     Fri March 28, 2025 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

    Mon March 31, 2025 - Bird-in-Hand Farm Country Ride

    , 32 miles. Meet at Bird-in Hand Family Inn. The event starts at 10:00 am. (11 - 12 mph) Join us for a friendly-paced early Spring journey through Lancaster County's gently rolling farmland as we follow a route for BCP's upcoming Cycling in PA Dutch Country Weekend, We'll start from the Bird-in-Hand Inn and ride over the Bitzer's Covered Bridge (mi 11), stop for a noon-time break in at the Village Cafe in Intercourse (mi 21), then on to Paradise (mi.24) and past the Strasburg Railroad (mi 28) on the return. The route avoids Blue Ball and Fertility. New riders are welcome. BCP requires all riders to wear helmets. Bring a tube in case of a flat. If we have enough riders we may split into slower (11 mph) and faster (13-14 mph) groups. The faster group might choose a slightly longer (44 mi.) route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49321399 ).
