Level C+/B-, 14 mph, 45 miles. Jim Thorpe, PA. The ride leaves at 10:00 am.
Leader: Craig Attig, , 267-475-5261Catch the colors of fall while they're still out there with a nice trail ride! Meet at the gazebo adjacent to the Jim Thorpe train station at 9:45am for a 10am start. We'll do a 45 mile loop, with one substantial, 1300' hill climb over Broad Mountain right from the start (it's doable!). Once past the climb, it's lovely riding in the PA countryside, ~22 miles up to the Tannery Rd trail-head of the Lehigh Valley River Gorge trail, and another 20 or so of dead flat *trail* riding (slightly tipped downhill, but you'll never notice!). Road bikes with skinny tires can technically handle the trail's surface, but you'd be better off running 28s or wider, or on hybrid/mtn. No hammering, but we'll manage a B-/C+ pace; 14mph average over entire ride. Nobody dropped. Bring a snack and enough fluid, as we'll take a snack stop after we reach the trail. Don't forget your pump, tools, patches and tubes, as this is a remote trail. Rain will cancel. Please RSVP me via email if interested.
