Level B/B-: 14.5-15mph, 50+/- miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available.

Ride through Belmont, Wynnewood, Havertown, Haverford, Merion, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Devon, Wayne, Gulph Mills, Conshohocken, Manayunk, Bala Cynwyd, etc. Many hills, including 12 (or so) relatively long ones. One 35-minute coffee stop in Devon (Pour Richards) at mile 26 or so. (It's all about the coffee.) Will regroup at top of long hills as needed, but riders are expected to achieve advertised pace (which is what our computers read as "average" at the finish). PLEASE PREREGISTER: It saves time; and increases substantially my ability to read the important info on the sign-in sheet; and it does not matter if you do not show up since we will not wait beyond the scheduled start time. Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

Annual Trek to Mount Gretna - TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES
Levels B+: 15-16mph, B-/C+: 13.5-15mph, 78/48 miles. Meet at Shady Maple Farm Market on PA-23 in Goodville, Lancaster Co. (PA Turnpike West to Morgantown/Exit 298. Take PA-10 South for 1 mile to PA-23 West. Right at PA-23. Straight on 23 West for 8 miles, then turn left into Shady Maple parking lot. The ride leaves at 8:15 am. Cue sheets will be available. Leaders: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862 and Daniel Operacz, , 267-265-9358Beautiful ride through Lancaster and Lebanon Counties for an al fresco lunch at the historic Jigger Shop in the town of Mount Gretna, based on Dave Ziccardi's classic route. Moderately to dramatically rolling terrain with a few flat and sustained climbing sections on the way out. After the short climb out of Mount Gretna, the way back will be noticeably easier and will include a brief water stop. Stock up on fresh produce, Amish goodies, and baked goods after the ride. Anyone wanting to ride a slower pace and/or do fewer miles can opt for a self-guided (after mile 21.3), less hilly 48 mile route which skips Mt. Gretna. We will start PROMPTLY AT 8:30 (no exceptions), so please plan to arrive by 8:15. If you get ahead or fall behind you will need to be able to follow the cue sheet. If it's your first time doing this ride, please contact leader by evening of Friday, May 31 with questions re. driving directions or parking. Bad weather, including extreme heat, will cancel. A go/no-go message will be added to this listing by 6:30 a.m. if the weather is questionable. HEAT ADVISORY: Although this route is LOVELY, we will have limited amounts of shade. Self contained bicycle adventure, camp dinners, sleeping under the stars so tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad, two changes of clothing, camp towel, toilets, rain gear, and dress according to the weather. Brandywine Meadows

Level B/B-: 15-15.5mph, 43 miles. Meet at Strafford Train Station Westbound side. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is Riders on the bike go up and down.
Leader: David Jung, , 215-776-1033Ride level is B/B-: 15-16mph, 43mi with 3400ft. Meet at 8:45AM for 9AM start. It's a B ride b/c of the short and steep nature of the climbing. Expect climbing speeds of 10-15mph except for the steepest climbs. We will regroup a short distance after each climb to train pushing over the top and active recovery. If you don't have the legs for whatever reason, some climbs can be bypassed allowing you to regroup with us. This is my variation of the Dirty Dozen ride which is up and down the hills around the western burbs of Philly so Conshy, Manayunk, Gladwyne. Learn how to climb and get stronger as we ride them at mortal speeds. There are 6 big hills such as Harts Ln, Hagys Mill, Mary Waters, Rose Glen, etc...totaling around 3400ft. There is 1 quick water/food break at 30mi but ideally bring 2 pieces of food like energy bars for 2 quick food breaks each hour. Ideally, we should finish in 3hrs so plan accordingly. The return will be via the 202 trail, Ambler, Plymouth Meeting. At Manayunk we will head up Shurs lane where the BCP Picnic will await us at Blue Bell Park on Walnut Lane. Total climbing is about 3,800 ft. We’ll regroup as needed, but riders will need to maintain the group pace. Anyone struggling early on will be asked to consider a different route to the BCP picnic.

Will regroup at top of hills if necessary, but riders are expected to maintain posted speed (what our computers read upon ride completion). Tandem Ride to the Picnic

Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides
Levels A through D: 10-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Cue sheets will be available.

We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable.

Ben Franklin Bridge Camden Side Ramp Ribbon Cutting Opening (ad-hoc ride)
Level D: 10mph, 10 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 8:55 am. Cue sheets will not be available.
Leader: Tim Carey, , 267-414-9037This ride will take the ferry across the Delaware River from Penns Landing, by the Seaport Museum. The fare is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, less for children. The ride at first goes to Old City Coffee, 221 Church St, where we will be meeting up with Greater Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition's ride. They will be taking the North walkway and carry their bikes one last time down the three flights of stairs. Our ride will leave the coffee shop by 9:25 am to make the 10 am ferry over to the Camden Waterfront Aquarium, then to the south side foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge for the ribbon cutting.

We'll be riding thru the Norristown Farm Park on the way out, do a loop in hilly Valley Forge Park, hit the flat SRT for a while and then do a few more hills on our way back to the start. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels). We'll first head down the NJ side to Washington's Crossing, use a bridge to get to the PA side, and then ride up to Bull's Island for a bathroom break and a picnic lunch (not provided, bring your own goodies). We'll then head up towards Frenchtown for a few miles, before turning back to finish the ride. Best suited for a gravel, cyclocross or hybrid bike, or a road bike with wide tires and a rider who doesn't mind a few rougher sections here and there. The NJ side is mostly smooth crushed stone, the PA side more of a mixed bag, but nothing outrageous. Leisurely speed - will regroup as needed. Photo-op stops are welcome. We expect to list a ride weekly on Thursdays, starting from either Betzwood (going up either the SRT or the Perkiomen) or the New Hope/Lambertville area (exploring both sides of the Delaware River). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. This week it is probably the most challenging of the HoW rides and is based on the infamous Simon Shin "Jack&Jill" ride. We head out to Valley Forge park via the Main Line. Head south to Ridley Creek State Park, then back to Philly. Food stop at Paoli with the option to take train back to Philly if you are fed up with your legs screaming at you. The total climbing is ~ 5,500 ft. Early lunch at Snoozy's Cafe on the return (mile 18). The ride will be a mix of dirt, gravel, loose rocks and paved trail. Best suited for a gravel, cyclocross or hybrid bike, or a road bike with wide tires and a rider who doesn't mind a few rougher sections here and there. Leisurely speed - will regroup as needed. Stand-up lunch stop at Wawa at mile 29. On the return, if another quick break is needed, we can stop at the clubhouse in Centre Square Park on Yost Rd before 202, at mile 42. Lots of peaceful, green roads on this route. Terrain is rolling, but not too steep. Total climbing 2388 ft, per RWGPS.com. The racing program for 6/21 includes the UCI Festival of Speed with sprint matches. A live band will be performing in the plaza, and there will be family- and kid-friendly entertainment. Leader will bring root beer, diet root beer and other soft drinks, in case anyone would like to make a root beer float or ice cream soda. Meet on the patio of the GIANT Market at the rear of the parking lot, where we meet for our Wednesday evening multi-level rides. Flourtown Shopping Center on Bethlehem Pike is the one with McDonald's in the front (facing the Pike), and GIANT Market at the rear. We cyclists park in the rear, close to GIANT. VOLUNTEERS APPRECIATED to help with either set-up or clean-up. PUBLIC TRANSIT: For members joining us from Center City, there are several train stations (serving different lines) close to Flourtown - Chestnut Hill East and West, Oreland, Glenside, Ft. Washington, etc. It's a short bike ride from these train stations to Flourtown. "FOUR-FOOT PASSING" lawn signs available - we will bring some of the "Four Feet to Pass" lawn signs, produced by our sister club, Suburban Cyclists Unlimited (SCU). These signs are available for FREE, or, for voluntary donation to College Settlement Camp, a non-profit organization for youth, located on Witmer Rd in Horsham.

Meeting at Cosmic Cafe by 9 am to take the train starting the physical ride from the Lindenwald PATCO station. Lunch will be in Hammonton, NJ 19 miles. The remaining 31 to 36 miles gets us to the Atlantic Ocean. Aiming for the 6:45 PM train back to Philadelphia which takes 90 some minutes. Therefore, home home around 9 pm. There is a 4:55 p train back but I can't guarantee catching it.

As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862FOR 6/28 - Pretty loop from Flourtown to the Main Line, stopping at the Lancaster Farmer's Market in Wayne, to meet Chuck Herbert and his group for lunch. Outbound via Chestnut Hill and Roxborough, to the Manayunk Bridge Trail, Cynwyd Heritage Trail, and Bala Cynwyd. Meander through Haverford, Villanova, and Wayne. Lunch stop in Wayne is at Mile 28.5. (If a quick rest break is needed before lunch, there is a cafe at Mile 19, and there are porta-potties in Willows Park at Mile 25.) After lunch, the return trip via Valley Forge is shorter, and includes the flat SRT, from Sullivan's Bridge at Betzwood, to Spring Mill. Total climbing is 3332 ft, per RWGPS.com, and most of the climbing is before lunch. Assemble at 9:20am, for a prompt 9:30 departure. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing.

Leader: Linda McGrane, , 267-251-7862Pretty, scenic meander through Chester County, based on/adapted from an annual charity event ride (Chester County Challenge for Cancer Ride, to benefit Chester County Hospital). This route has been modified to include convenience stores as rest stops. Cycle past peaceful, green landscapes and farms, with multiple crossings of the picturesque Brandywine Creek. Total climbing is 5100 ft, but, there are also flat & gently rolling stretches along the creek, and in the farmlands. Quick convenience store stop at Mile 11, to stock up on fluids and snacks. Lunch stop is at Mile 35 in Parkesburg, at the Turkey Hill mini-mart. On the return, we have an ice cream parlor stop at Mile 55 in Unionville.
