Levels B: 15mph, 68 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Friendly ride out to Westchester. Starting at the bulldog statue this week to avoid the Marathon. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube, tire irons and multi-tool. Typically Andrew &/or Nick leads and Simon sweeps and, if needed, leads a slower pace ride. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Pre-registration preferred. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is Sunset Hollow.

Sat November 23, 2024 - Winter Wanna B - Start at the Bulldog - Ride to Devon
Level B-: 14.5mph, 30 - 60 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. DUE TO HALF MARATHON TODAY'S START WILL BE FROM THE BULLDOG. Friendly scenic rides involving hills, a nice coffee shop, and pastries. Length of ride is dependent on high temperature of the day. We'll regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride the listed pace, which is the average speed at the end of the ride. Bring the ability and tools/tubes to fix a flat and money for the coffee stop. Details of each ride and route will be listed a couple of days before the ride. Level D: 8mph, 30 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum.. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We haven't been to Daryl's Pastries, in Glenside. So let's go there this morning. We will take a high road up to Mt Airy, Cresheim Valley Dr to Chestnut Hill and Ivy Hill Rd on to Glenside. Return paralleling the Reading SEPTA line into North Philly, West Oakland on Ogontz Ave and W Hunting Park Ave to Kelly Dr. If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels. Sun November 24, 2024 - SUNNY SUNDAY D RIDE FROM A NEW LOCATION THIS WEEK ONLY
Level D: 9-12mph, 12-24 miles. Meet at Mequon Septa Regional Rail Station. The ride leaves at 11:45 am. Casual Ride on the Schuylkill River Trail going west (as Horace Greeley stated “Go West Young Bicyclist, Go West”) from the Mequon Station. We will be starting from there to avoid the traffic from the Philadelphia Marathon Remember to bring a Septa Senior Pass if you are old enough. There is a train at 11AM that arrives at the station at 11:33. There is a 2:52PM and 3:52 train returning to center city. There is parking at the train station. Please wear helmet (required by the club.). Please bring water, extra tubes and tools to fix a flat, proper dress for the weather, and $ for mid-ride snack stop. Preregistration is required, please preregister by Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 11:45 am.

Levels C: 12mph, 35 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 12:15 pm. A true C ride, which cheerfully waits to regroup. Ride to Weis' Market in Conshohocken for a snack stop is contemplated. Some climbing required. Note that there will be road closures around the Art Museum for the Philadelphia Marathon but bikes should be able to cross most barriers. Parking may be challenging. It is optional, but you may preregister until Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 11:00 am.

Tue November 26, 2024 - Tuesday Ride to MEDIA, PA. "THE DELCO SPECIAL."
Level C-: 10.5mph, 40 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. It's once again time to put our big boy /girl pants on , and rather than our usual 25-ish mile ride, let's do a 40 miler with 2500 feet of climbing.The Delco Special is named of course , after the trick play that won the Super Bowl for Delaware County in 1908. I've once again shamelessly stolen someone else's "material." This time from BCP member Joe Pless. Still looking for a quick spot for lunch near the half way point, so please let me know iif you have a suggestion. NOTE: While I usually test ride a. route at least once before leading, I have not done so in this case. Our route looks solid however. Cue sheets will not be available. Thu November 28, 2024 - Get a good appetite ride for Thankgiving dinner
Level D: 9-12mph, 12-18 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum.. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Casual paced ride through Fairmount Park and beyond. This will be a short ride early on Thanksgiving day to help build your appreciation of the Thanksgiving dinner later in the day. Please wear helmet(required by the club.) Please bring extra tube and tools to fix a flat, proper dress for the weather, water, and legs that just have to ride a bicycle today. Fri November 29, 2024 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. PLAN B HIKE/WALK
Hike Leisurely Pace on Easy Trails, ~5-6 on foot miles. Meet at Fox Chase Lorimer Trailhead, Rhawn St and Elberon Ave. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. For Fridays in November: Plan B Hike/Walk, since Leader has a wrist injury. Walk/hike on Lorimer/Pennypack Trails. Meet at trailhead on Rhawn St, across from the end of the Fox Chase Rail Station. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available. Sat November 30, 2024 - Newark, DE to Turkey Point Lighthouse SCENIC Adventure - CO-LEADER(S) WELCOME UPDATED Route with Enhancements by Charlie B.
Level B-/C+: 13.5-14.5mph, 60.5 miles. Meet at Parking lot of the Newark Shopping Center in the rear, behind the Big Z Pizza.. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. In honor of Thanksgiving turkey, this ride is a revival of the late Peter Odell's classic route to the Turkey Point Lighthouse, on the scenic and peaceful peninsula between the Elk River and the North East River, at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. Recently updated by Charlie B., with route enhancements. Mostly quiet roads in northwestern Delaware and northeastern Maryland. Wawa at Mile 17. Lunch stop at mile 19, in the adorable town of Northeast, MD. We can eat out lunch by the river in the town park. ScenicTurkey Point Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula is at mile 33. (The Lighthouse Trail runs right along the perimeter of the peninsula.) On the return, we have a rest stop at a market/deli at mile 45, as well as a Wawa option at Mile 50.5 in Elkton. Total elevation gain is 3913 feet. Mostly rolling terrain, with some steep climbs (up-down-up-down) close to the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula. We will stop to regroup as needed. Travel time from Philadelphia to Newark is ~one hour. Driving Directions from Philadelphia: I-95 South into DE, then DE-273 West toward Newark/Univ. of DE. DE-273 will lead you to Main St. The Newark Shopping Center, immediately before Pomeroy Rail Trail bike parth, the will be on your right side.
