    Fri July 19, 2019 - Early Morning Friday Frolic w/Linda, to Beat the Heat. Whole Foods Double-Header from Jenkintown to Plymouth Meeting

    Level B-: 14mph, 41 miles. Meet at Jenkintown Whole Foods Market, on the Fairway. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. EARLY MORNING RIDE TODAY, DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT IN THE AFTERNOON. This is a pretty loop from the Whole Foods Market in Jenkintown to the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting. Outbound via Abington, Oreland, and Blue Bell. Indoor rest stop at the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting at the half-way mark (mile 20). Return via Spring Mill, Flourtown, and Glenside. At the rest stop in Plymouth Meeting (mid-way), there is an indoor dining area, so, we can take advantage of the air conditioning. On the return, if another water stop is needed, there is an option to stop at Wawa at mile 29 or mile 32. Total elevation gain is 1875 ft, per RidewithGPS.com. Mostly rolling terrain - tallest climb is 380 ft. Meeting point at Whole Foods Market: park at far end of lot, near the Rydal Park senior apts. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride.     Fri July 19, 2019 - Art Museum to Ikea Conshohocken Beat the Heat Ride (ad-hoc ride)

    Level C- through D: 11-12mph, 27.6 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. This is a simple out and back, mostly flat ride to Ikea in Conshohocken via SRT and the Mid-County Trail (paved). We will leave at 9:30 am and expect to be back before 1 pm to avoid the afternoon heat. Ikea has a recently enlarged cafe with coffee, cinnamon buns, cool drinks, ice cream, hot dogs, pizza slices, and air conditioning. The route has long stretches of shaded, paved trails. Bring water, a spare tube, money for our mid-ride stop, and a cool attitude. Helmets required. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Sat July 20, 2019 - Belmar Beach NJ Ride by David Kaplan

    Level B: 15-16mph, 65 miles. Meet at Rocky Brook Park NJ 08535. The ride leaves at 7:30 am. CHANGE START TIME TO 7 30 AM DUE TO HEAT. Please join me as I am lending ride from Rocky Brook Park NJ to Belmar Beach and Asbury Park NJ. We will meet at Rocky Brook Park NJ, at 899 Perrineville Rd, Perrineville, NJ 08535. The ride will leave at 8:30 am. This is very scenic route down to the Belmar Beach. The tentative GPS route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30504408 which is approximately 65 miles with 1675 feet of elevation. Level B ride, speed 15 to 16 mph. Must be able to maintain the pace. Lunch stop at Belmar Beach at Ocean Drive between 17th and 16th Avenues approximately at the 33-mile mark. I will be eating my lunch at 3 Brothers Pizza. Can do some short stops for bathroom needs and water as needed. Rain cancels the ride. Driving Directions is to go to the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) to exit 8. Continue to NJ-133. Use the right 2 lanes to merge onto Milford Road. Merge onto Milford Road. Turn left onto Etra Road/Etra Perrineville Road. Continue onto Ocean County 571/ Perrineville Road. Then turn right to stay on Perrineville Road. Then to down approximately 1 mile and turn left into Rocky Brook Park. Please feel free to contact the me with any questions.     Sat July 20, 2019 - Lets Beat the Heat (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B: 13.5mph, 35 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 7:55 am. A version of the Valley Forge Winter Ride, with an earlier start. We will ride 17.5 miles to the Kimberton Whole Food store in Kimberton, do an indoor iced coffee break, then ride 17.5 miles back to Valley Forge.     Sat July 20, 2019 - Spring Mill Train Station to Wegmans in Collegeville

    Level B-: 14mph, 40 +/- miles. Meet at Spring Mill Train Station. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Mostly flat ride to the Wegmans in Collegeville for a snack stop. The only hills are at the end of the SRT going up Indian Head, Cider Mill and Arcola Roads to Wegmans and Cider Mill back to the SRT. It will be hot so bring plenty to drink. Water and bathroom stops at Betzwood. Riders should be able to maintain the average pace. Faster on flats, slower on hills Cue sheets will not be available.

    Levels A: 18mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 8:05 am. Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing.     Level D: 10mph, 35 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Orange Blossom Cafe is in Riverton, NJ. So we will ride up though Port Richmond and Bridesberg, walk over the Tacony Palmyra Bridge and up the Delaware River bank to Riverton. Return via River Road and north Camden. Cycling over the new walkway of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Cue sheets will not be available. It is optional, but you may preregister until Friday, July 19, 2019 at 9:00 pm.

    Level B: 14.5-15.5mph, 50 - 70 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:05 am. Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.     Sun July 21, 2019 - East Amwell, NJ to Oldwick General Store. Early start to beat the heat. (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14mph, 46 miles. Meet at East Amwell School, 43 Wertsville Rd, Ringoes, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Pretty loop through Hunterdon County from East Amwell School on Wertsville Rd in Ringoes, to the Oldwick General Store and cafe in Tewksbury at Mile 21. On the return, there is an ice cream parlor at mile 28, and a convenience store at mile 37. Cross the scenic Raritan River, as well as a few creeks. Total climbing is 2417 ft.     Level C- through D: 10-12mph, 15-25 miles. Meet at Kayuh Bicycles & Cafe 19th St. & Girard Ave. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. This weeks ride will depend on the HEAT! We will be riding through Fairmount Park trying stay under the trees, avoid some of the hills and MLK, which is mostly tree lined. Maybe a walk along a path in the woods. Temperature will play a big role on how long the ride will be! Easy rides for new riders. A no drop ride, with rest stops and re-group as needed. Helmet and WATER a must. Due to the heat, we will have a shorter and slower ride, about 25 miles. We will stop at Fiesta Pizza on Germantown Ave. and attempt to create the same "fog" effect we did on a hot day in 2018. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this ride may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Mon July 22, 2019 - Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable. Cue sheets will be available.

Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Often will have a sit-down lunch stop. Meet in same parking lot as "Multi-Paced Rides" listed above. Rear of lot, near Giant Market. (LANDMARK: Flourtown Shopping Ctr has McDonald's in the front, facing Bethlehem Pike.)     Level C+: 13.5-14.5mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Daylight rides on beautiful low-traffic roads. Rolling to hilly terrain. Lights not required, but not a bad idea to be prepared. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace. Cue sheets will not be available.     Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the stresses of the workday, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride - relaxed pace. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Thu July 25, 2019 - Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 - 35 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. Two different paced groups: Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after-ride drinks at local beer gardens (bring ID & money). Cue sheets will not be available.

    Thu July 25, 2019 - Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 14.5-15.5mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. NOTE: START TIME IN SEPT. IS 5:45. Cue sheets will not be available.

We discovered a new coffee shop in Marlton, NJ on our way home from Atsion Lake camping trip. So it isn't shown on Google Maps. Let's rediscover it by taking the Ben Franklin Bridge over and back walking over the Tacony Palmyra Bridge walkway. Small, low traffic roads will also be rediscovered.     Level B: 14.5-15.5mph, 50 - 70 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:05 am. Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.     Sun July 28, 2019 - HAMMONTON, NJ TO GREAT BAY/BLUEBERRY CENTURY - CO-LEADERS WELCOME

    Level B-: 14-16mph, 108, or 75 miles. Meet at Hammonton Lake Park, Hammonton, NJ 08037, on S. Egg Harbor Rd/NJ-561. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. This ride is based on a route by Mike Krizauskas of BCP, SCU, and the Jersey Shore Cycle Club, originally planned to coincide with the Blueberry Festival in Hammonton, Blueberry Capital of the World. Mike K. has updated this route, to include scenic Lake Oswego, as well as other lakes, ponds, etc. On this 108-miler, there will be several rest stops The route, which is FLAT, will take us through blueberry farmlands, as well as quaint small towns in the Hammonton area. We'll cycle down to Lands End, that is, the end of the road at Great Bay. You'll see a wide menagerie of wildlife, as we cycle across the marshes toward the bay. You'll also see a facility along the bayshore which used to be a Coast Guard facility - it's now a marine research lab. Please note: we may have some headwinds, especially as we approach the bay. The 75-miler does not go to Land's End at Great Bay.     Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this ride may be cancelled, if there is a special Tailgate event at the COS ride in Wayne on the same date. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Mon July 29, 2019 - Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph, 10-40 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley ( over 100 riders). We have 7 different ride groups ranging from our slowest paced "Hybrid Bike" group up to our "A" group. All rides start 6pm sharp and finish at sunset ( the Hybrid group finishes at 7:30). We also have post-ride socials at the Great American Pub in Wayne as well as two "tailgate" nights in the COS lot. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.). Rain cancels the ride but look at Meetup for last minute updates when weather is questionable. Cue sheets will be available.

Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Often will have a sit-down lunch stop.
