    Wed November 21, 2018 - CANCELLED Nighttime Phoenixville Dog Ride

    Level C+: 13.5-14.5mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:30 pm. The nighttime Phoenixville Dog rides will continue until daylight savings time begins. A strong headlight and taillight are required. The rides are on low traffic roads and feature rolling to hilly terrain. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the advertised pace over rolling to hilly terrain. Precipitation cancels. Ice on the road cancels. Temperatures below 15 degrees at the scheduled start time cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Thu November 22, 2018 - RIDE THURSDAYS!

    Levels B-: 14-15mph, 35-55 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We will ride west on the SRT , make a Loop in Valley Forge Park, then continue west to Phoenixville for coffee and snack break.. we will then ride to the end of the pavement on the Perkiomen Trail before returning to Conshy. Opportunity for some intervals or sprints on the flat trail . No drops but should be able to ride posted pace (it’s flat!) . Bring water ,snacks and helmet. Check back for weather related changes, Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level C: 13mph, 35 miles. Meet at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Perkiomen Trail from Oaks to Green Lane. 28mm or wider tires recommended. Sand, stone dust, and small gravel. Super scenic trail ride. Bring snacks and H2O. Bathrooms along the route at Central Perkiomen Valley Park and Green Lane.

    Thu November 22, 2018 - Thanksgiving Morning Ramble, UDHS to Skippack - TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES

    Levels B: 14.5-15.5mph, B-: 13-14.5mph, 42 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Early morning ride to burn off some calories before our big feast later today. Pretty loop from Upper Dublin High School to the Wawa in Skippack at the mid-way point for a quick rest break and snack. Outbound via Ambler and West Point, return via Evansburg and Blue Bell. Rolling terrain with 2048 feet of climbing, but no killer climbs. Plan is to return by 1:000pm, in order to have plenty of time to get to our holiday gatherings.     Fri November 23, 2018 - Chesterbrook to Kimberton

    Level C: 12mph, 31 miles. Meet at Chesterbrook - Wilson Farm Park - Lee Rd at Wilson Rd. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Try some new and scenic roads to get to Kimberton. The terrain is a bit lumpy with several heavy rollers. The rest stop will be Kimberton Whole Foods at 19 miles. We will take an easy going pace and regroup as needed. Cue sheets will be available.

    Fri November 23, 2018 - FRIDAY FROLIC SPECIAL HOLIDAY EDITION: Lancaster County Farmlands Meander, aka, "The Best of Lancaster County". TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES.

    Levels B: 14.5-15.5mph, B-: 13.5-14.5mph, 55.4 miles. Meet at Salisbury Township Community Park (Gap Park) , 750 White Horse Rd., Gap, PA 17527, just off US-30. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. RESCHEDULED from last Saturday, due to the snowstorm on Thursday, 11/15. This picturesque route was developed by BCP/SCU member Charlie Brandt, who also belongs to the Lancaster Bike Club. Thanks, Charlie, for the pretty route! Scenic Lancaster County ride, starts at Salisbury Township Community Park (Gap Park) , 750 White Horse Rd., Gap, PA 17527, just off route 30. This park is only 37 minutes west of King of Prussia. The park has spacious parking lots and a restroom. A Speedway/Dunkin Donuts is adjacent to the park and a Wawa is nearby. Total elevation gain is 3000 feet - most of the hills are in the first twenty miles. The middle and final portions of the route are pretty gentle. The route includes the stunning Creek Road along Octoraro Creek, several breathtaking descents with magnificent views, and stops at the Bird-in-Hand Bake Shop and Lapp Valley Farm. Only one covered bridge, but includes the most scenic roads of the county. There is a new rest stop added at mile 15 (as per Charlie's 11/9 revision), at mile 23 (bakery & roadside stand), a bakery at mile 30, and a Sheetz convenience store at mile 32 with indoor & outdoor seating in Smoketown. On the return, at mile 45, there is a dairy farm & creamery. TWO LEADERS, TWO PACES: Elliot will lead the 14.5-15.5 group, and Linda will lead at 13.5 to 14.5.     Sat November 24, 2018 - Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride

    Levels A: 16-17mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 8:05 am. Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM. Rain cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.     Sat November 24, 2018 - Newark, DE to Turkey Point Lighthouse Adventure. CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 59 miles. Meet at Parking lot of the Newark & Pomeroy Rail Trail, near Bike Line & Ski Bum stores, next to the Newark Shopping Center on Main St. . The ride leaves at 9:00 am. In honor of Thanksgiving turkey, this ride is a revival of the late Peter Odell's classic route to the Turkey Point Lighthouse, on the scenic and peaceful peninsula between the Elk River and the North East River, at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. Mostly quiet roads in northwestern Delaware and northeastern Maryland. Rest stop at mile 18.5, in the cute town of Northeast, MD. ScenicTurkey Point Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula is at mile 31.5. (The Lighthouse Trail runs right along the perimeter of the peninsula.) On the return, we have a rest stop at a market/deli at mile 45. Total elevation gain is 3986 feet. Mostly rolling terrain, with some steep climbs (up-down-up-down) close to the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula. We will stop to regroup as needed. Travel time from Philadelphia to Newark is ~one hour. Driving Directions from Philadelphia: I-95 South into DE, then DE-273 West toward Newark/Univ. of DE. DE-273 will lead you to Main St. The Newark Shopping Center, the Rail Trail parking lot, and Bike Line & Ski Bum stores will be on your right.     Level D: 8-10mph, 45 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. If you as sharp as a pistol then you will join us on the Bristol Stump ride. The Bristol PA Dutch Farmers Market will be the turn back spot. Love the bacon, egg, cheese rapped in pretzel doe. Bristol is 20 miles North of Philadelphia along the Delaware River. Cue sheets will not be available. It is optional, but you may preregister until Friday, November 23, 2018 at 9:00 pm.

A winter B ride with longer rides when warmer, shorter rides when colder. Total elevation 3000 - 4000 ft. The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for GPS route information. Ride may be cancelled up to an hour before ride time. Cue sheets will not be available.

Bring your 29er, CX, Gravel or equip your road bike with wider tires as we mashup rides across various asphalt, gravel and sometimes dirt terrains. Expect a good challenge as we grind gravel trails and hit a few climbs with great company for no other purpose than to have fun and put in a few unpaved miles.

    Sun November 25, 2018 - Sunday Hike in the Wissahickon

    Hike Swift Pace on Strenuous Trails, 6.5-8.5 miles. Meet at Corner of Germantown Ave & Bethlehem Pike, across from Chestnut Hill Coffee Co., 8620 Germantown Ave. The hike leaves at 9:30 am. Let's walk off some of the calories we've been consuming at our holiday dinners and parties! Meet at the corner of Germantown Ave. & Bethlehem Pike, where there used to be a Borders Book Store. This is across the street from Chestnut Hill Coffee at 8620 Germantown Ave. From here, we'll walk a few blocks through the neighborhood to access the trailhead on Crefeld St. All the homes should be decorated for the holidays. Well-behaved canine hikers are warmly welcome to join us! Trails will include some climbing, but there will be some shorter & flatter options available. Following the hike, we will have several options for where to eat lunch -- cafes & restaurants on Germantown Ave, e.g., Cosimo's, Bruno's, etc. Preregistration link has been set-up, to help save time for signing-in at the meeting point. Please consider pre-registering - it will save you writing time at the hike start, and ensure that your contact & emergency contact info are printed clearly on the form.     Sun November 25, 2018 - Sunday Afternoon (Post-Hike) Winter Ramble Ride (General description -- specific details will be posted for each Sunday)

    Level B-: 14mph, 32-36 miles. Meet at Bruno's, Northwestern and Germantown Aves. The ride leaves at 1:20 pm. Scenic loop, usually thru Montgomery Co. or Lower Bucks, with brief rest stop. Unless otherwise stated, meet most Sundays at Bruno's (finishing point for many of the Sunday AM Wissahickon hikes). Occasionally meet at another location in Chestnut Hill. Plan to return by 5:00pm. Please bring LIGHTS. Specific details posted for week. Every Sunday throughout winter (during hiking season), weather permitting, EXCEPT 2nd Sun in Feb. If weather is not bike-friendly, this ride may be replaced by snow activity. Keep moving throughout winter - maintain base fitness level for the return of spring cycling in March.     Fri November 30, 2018 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.
