    Tue July 17, 2018 - Ride Yer Bike Tuesday

    Levels A-/B+: 16.5-17.5mph, B/B-: 15-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 46 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll ride to Doylestown Pizza (mile 26.5), following a brief rest stop (mile 17). Mostly flat to rolling (no big climbs) on a mix of low traffic country and suburban roads. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride if weather is iffy (rain cancels). THE LAST RIDE OF THE MONTH STARTS FROM CENTRAL PARK, DOYLESTOWN.     Levels B: 15mph, 30-34 miles. Meet at Bulldog Statue, 25th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Ride thru the park to Henry Ave across McCallum bridge to Germantown Ave and out toward Ambler. How far out we go depends on daytime hours . Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level B: 15mph, Sunlight determines miles. Meet at North Penn High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. The ride will depart from North Penn High School - meet behind the school near the bus depot at 6:00 pm. Ride Level: C+/B-, Speed: 13-15 mph. We will meet at 6pm every Tuesday evening through the end of September. The rides will begin the season at 13-14mph and increase to occasional 15-16mph rides as the season slowly progresses. The riding distance is determined by the amount of sunlight. Come on out and discover new roads and routes. We never repeat a route during a single season. Cue sheets will not be available.     Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-30 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Meet in the library parking lot. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. This Tuesday evening ride meets on 3 Tuesdays each month. One Tuesday of the month (usually, the LAST week of the month), this ride is replaced by the Ride to the Monthly Newsletter Mailing Party, meeting at 5:00pm. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. We will ride to Tabora Farm via Chalfont. After enjoying a variety of tasty food at Tabora, we will return via Peace Valley Park. Expect moderate climb to Tabora from Chalfont. Ride will leave promptly at start time.     Wed July 18, 2018 - Phoenixville Dog Ride, B-/C+, 13.5-14.5

    Level C+: 13.5mph, 20-35 miles. Meet at Reynolds Dog Park, Longford Rd, Oaks, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. The daylight Phoenixville dog rides begin in May and continue through September. Rolling to hilly rides on low-traffic roads. Regroup as necessary. No one dropped, but please be prepared to ride the posted speed on rolling to hilly terrain. On the last Wednesday of each month, we will have a day/night ride. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights. A strong headlight and taillight are required. On the last Wednesday in June, we will ride a metric century.

We will pick up the pace as season progresses, & we all help each other improve. Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace. Must be willing to ride safely & obey traffic laws. Often will have a sit-down lunch stop.     Thu July 19, 2018 - Thursday Night Hill Ride

    Levels B: 15mph, B-/C+: 14mph, 25 -35 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. A moderately hilly ride conquering 3 Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be nearing 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. 50% chance of rain between 6:00 and 8:00 cancels the ride Cue sheets will not be available. This year we will have 2 different paced groups. Simon will lead a B pace ride at 14.5 - 15.5 mph and Gene will lead the traditional pace at 13.5 -14.5 mph Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-30 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on the Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, the Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill with Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring lights in case we return close to dark. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Thu July 19, 2018 - Conshohocken Multi-Level Rides

    Levels B: 14-16mph, C+: 13-14mph, 20-30+ miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Meet at 5:45 for a prompt start. Note that there aren't any bathroom facilities. We offer 3 paces (13-14, 14-16, 17-18) on a variety of routes on relatively lightly traveled roads. Most will have some hills. Distance will vary with the pace and available daylight. Please bring a rear light for use at dusk, and preferably a front light too. Will regroup as needed, but please be prepared to maintain the ride's advertised pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. Check day of the ride for possible changes or cancellations (rain cancels), and if a certain pace is not available. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Fri July 20, 2018 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Meet at Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot). As long as we are enjoying outdoor physical exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

    Levels A: 16-17mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 8:05 am. Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM. Rain cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.     Level B: 14.5-15.5mph, 50 - 70 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.     Sun July 22, 2018 - Sandy Hook Seashore Trek - CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 70 miles. Meet at Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Route 33 Business, Manalapan, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:45 am. Picturesque adventure ride from Central NJ to Sandy Hook, a 1665-acre barrier peninsula which protrudes into the bay between NJ & NY. Sandy Hook offers a view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as 7 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, and a holly forest. Shortly before reaching the seashore, we'll stop at the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook County Park, which includes a memorial to the heroes of 9-11. This county park provides a spectacular overlook of Sandy Hook Bay and the NYC skyline. The route to & from Sandy Hook will take us along the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, as well as the Swimming River Reservoir. Beginning and ending portions of the route are rolling, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2189 feet. Middle portion of the route (near and on the beach) is flat. Food stops at mile 25 and 45, + an optional Rita's Water Ice stop at mile 62, near the finish. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the starting point (Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park): 1) NJ Turnpike North to Exit 8/Hightstown & Freehold. 2) From Exit 8 ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. Stay on 33 East. 3) After crossing CR 527/Millhurst Rd, NJ-33 will split into Business and Expressway. Take the right-lane exit for 33 Business, then bear right at bottom of ramp for 33 Bus East. Look for sign for Monmouth Battlefield Visitor Center. Turn left into Visitor Center entrance. Parking lot is at the end of a long driveway. Please allow at least 75 mins driving time from Phila. The map link provided below (you can zoom in) will show the start/finish point, the whole route, and the elevation profile.     Mon July 23, 2018 - Church of the Saviour Multi-Level Rides

    Level A through D: 8-20mph, 13-45 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Multi-level ride group with 7 different paced groups ( D, C, C+, B-, B, B+, and A). The 7 groups range from a slow D level "hybrid / road" group that rides no more than 15 miles at 8-11 mph pace up to our fastest pace "A" ride group that rides at 18-20 mph and anywhere between 20 and 50 miles depending on sunset times. We ride every Monday April thru September except when a Monday falls on a holiday. Rain cancels the rides. See a description of each individual ride group on the daily calendar.

On the last Wednesday of each month, we will have a day/night ride. We start riding in the daylight and continue after sunset with headlights and taillights.     Level B-/C+, 13-15 mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Meet at Various starting points -- please check the daily . The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. We'll explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Depending on the destination, starting point may be in Conshohocken, Flourtown, Jenkintown, Wayne, Valley Forge, etc. Please check the daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map will be provided for each ride. Scheduled for virtually every Friday throughout the year, with a few exceptions here & there. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk (on foot).     Sun July 29, 2018 - HAMMONTON, NJ TO GREAT BAY - CO-LEADER WELCOME

    Level B-: 14mph, 107, or 75 miles. Meet at Hammonton Lake Park, Hammonton, NJ 08037, on S. Egg Harbor Rd/NJ-561. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. This ride is based on a route by Mike Krizauskas of BCP, SCU, and the Jersey Shore Cycle Club, originally planned to coincide with the Blueberry Festival in Hammonton, Blueberry Capital of the World. On this 107-miler, there will be rest stops at Batsto Park, Timberline Lake General Store, as well as in Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton. The route, which is FLAT, will take us through blueberry farmlands, as well as quaint small towns in the Hammonton area. We'll cycle down to Lands End, that is, the end of the road at Great Bay. You'll see a wide menagerie of wildlife, as we cycle across the marshes toward the bay. You'll also see a facility along the bayshore which used to be a Coast Guard facility - it's now a marine research lab. Please note: we may have some headwinds, especially as we approach the bay.
