A " D "ride.Let's try this again this Monday! Meet at Cosmic Cafe and ride out SRT to Conshohocken, 4th St Deli. If Umbria is not milled that is another option.     Mon May 23, 2022 - Church of the Savior (COS) Multi-Level Group Rides

    Levels A through D: 10-20mph Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. The Church of the Savior (COS) Monday night ride is sponsored by both the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia and Suburban Cyclists Unlimited. It is the largest group ride in the region with up to 75 riders participating from April through October each year. Our riders have varying ability levels ranging from beginner (“D” level) riders on hybrid bikes that average 9-12 mph through semi-professional (“A” level) riding at 22-25 mph. As a result, we break into groups that are about 7-10 riders although these groups may be as large as 20 riders at times. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Mon May 23, 2022 - Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Monday Evening Edition

    Level C- through D: 10-12mph, 15-29 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout summer, weather permitting. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Mont Co. Brief rest stop for quick snack/bathroom break half-way through. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Toward the end of the season (mid-September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier. Cue sheets will not be available. It is optional, but you may preregister until Monday, May 23, 2022 at 6:00 pm.

    Tue May 24, 2022 - Ride Yer Bike Tuesday from Central Park, Doylestown

    Levels B+: 16-17mph, B/B-: 14-15mph, B-/C+: 13-14mph, C+/C: 12-13mph, 45 miles. Meet at Central Park, Doylestown. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll be doing one of our favorites, riding to Brig O'Doons in Ottsville @ mile 21 (one of those rides where you say why don't I do this more often), and then onto Tabora's in Chalfont @ mile 34. Both stops have food, bathrooms and outdoor seating. Expect good company on some very scenic, safe and low trafficked roads. A few climbs here and there, but most of the elevation gain is over long, gradual climbs (51 ft./mi.). We'll regroup as needed, but be prepared to maintain the posted pace. Must also be willing to ride safely and obey traffic laws. day of the ride if weather is iffy - rain cancels, but may reschedule for Wed. NOTE: Upper Dublin H.S. starts will have porta-potties but not water. NOTE: Ride starts at 9:30 in May & Sept., 9:00 June thru Aug. & 10:00 in Oct. November is ad hoc: different day, time and start locations each week. NOTE: 4th Tues. start from Central Park, Doylestown. 5th Tues.(May 31 & Aug. 30) start from Centre Square Park, Blue Bell.     Tue May 24, 2022 - Tuesday Ride to Narberth

    Level D: 10.5mph, 19 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Once again our destination will be Le Petite Mitron in Narberth, and you can enjoy your coffee and croissant in the bike park across the street. Let's try the same route up Bryn Mawr Avenue to Highland Ave. as last week, and this time I won't forget the turn into Oak Lane! On the way back when we get to Montgomery Ave we'll take the Cynwyd Trail to the Laurel Hill Cemetery and then past the Landing to the East end of Main Street, Manayunk, And then the Schuylkill Trail or MLK back home, Our ETA is 12;30. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace, peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on return. This Tuesday night ride meets weekly throughout summer, except if raining, unless there is another special club event in a different location (e.g., Member Appreciation Tailgate Social at another club ride site). After Labor Day, this ride will meet earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due shorter evening daylight. Cue sheets will not be available.

Gently paced, post-work ride to pedal away stresses, suited for novices, newcomers to area, and/or anyone seeking low-intensity recovery ride. Peaceful roads Eastern Montgomery Co, w/brief rest stop. Please bring lights. Please bring mask for indoor stop (Just in case) & hand sanitizer. Preregistration saves you writing time at start. If you sign-in at start, please use hand sanitizer. Meet in parking lot of Flourtown Shop Ctr Bethlehem Pike (McDonald's in front, facing the Pike). Once a month, this ride may need to meet earlier in afternoon, due to BCP Board meeting in evening. In September, as evening daylight shortens, this ride will meet earlier (5:45, then, 5:30). Cue sheets will not be available.

    Levels B+: 16-17mph, B: 15-16mph, 25-35 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. 2 speed groups available (B+ and B) RSVP is recommended Rain at start time, or wet roads will cancel the ride. Bring your bike, helmet, water bottles, snacks, spare tube, and tools needed for changing a flat (just in case). There are no planned stops on these rides.     Thu May 26, 2022 - Ride To Chestertown Weekend : 5/26, 27, 28, 29, 30, & 31

    Level D: 10mph, 50 each day miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Let's cycle to the Chestertown Weekend organized by the Baltimore Bicycle Club over the Memorial Weekend, May 27th thru May 30th. To do this, you need to add May 26th to ride 50 miles to Middletown, DE then to Chestertown and May 31st to ride 50 miles back to Philadelphia from Elkton MD. We will stay in motels and eat out those two nights. You must register yourself for the Chestertown Weekend thru the Baltimore Bicycle Club's web site inadvance. I will identify the motel in Middletown DE and Elkton, MD where hopefully we will have even number of cyclists riding to and from the event to share the two overnight accommodations. Or cycle to the Chestertown Weekend and arrang with another BCP member who is caring down to the event that can give you a car assist home. Contact the leader for detail information.     Level B-/C+: 14-15mph, 20 - 30 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. A moderately hilly ride conquering Main Line hills that regroups at the top of each climb. As the days lengthen, so does the ride and we should be ~ 30 miles by July. No riders doing the listed pace will be dropped. Cue sheets will not be available. Bike lights are highly recommended. Optional after ride drink at Parks on Tap, Cosmic Cafe, or other nearby venue. Rain cancellations will be listed on web site up to 1 hour prior to ride. Preregistration requested but not required. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Level C- through D: 10-12.5mph, 15-30 miles. Meet at Jacobs Engineering Parking Lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Thursday evenings throughout summer, weather permitting. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away work stresses, suited for novices, newcomers to area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting . As riders get stronger, we can turn off the trails and explore some pretty roads in the area. Please bring LIGHTS in case we return close to dark. Our mileage will be determined by how much evening light we have. Occasionally, this ride may meet earlier in afternoon, due to other event in evening. In mid-September, ride will depart at 5:45 or 5:30, due to earlier sunset. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Fri May 27, 2022 - Friday Frolic w/Linda. This is the generic description. Specific details will be posted on daily calendar for each Friday.

    Level B-: 14mph, 45-50, +/- miles. Start location to be determined. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. Enjoy scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. If weather conditions are not conducive to cycling, this ride may be replaced by a hike/walk, or snow activity. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available.

    Sat May 28, 2022 - Mostly Flat Century+ on Maryland's Eastern Shore (w/short-cut options available)

    Level B-: 14mph, 109 miles. Meet at Main parking lot of Washington College, on MD-213 in Chestertown, MD.. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Century trek on mostly flat-to-gently-rolling roads from Chestertown, MD, north to Chesapeake City (along the C & D Canal), across the Mason Dixon line to quaint Middletown and Odessa, DE, then returning to Maryland's Eastern Shore. Cycle mostly on lightly traveled roads with wide shoulders. Total elevation gain is 2164 feet. We'll pass through charming small towns, and cross the scenic Sassafras and Bohemia Rivers. Rest stops available at mile 19 (Galena), 39 (Chesapeake City), 51 (Wawa in Middletown, DE), 61 (Wawa north of Odessa). On the return, we can stop in Galena again at mile 88. Stop to regroup as needed. No one dropped, but we will try to maintain 14mph, as advertised. SHORT-CUT OPTION: On the return, staying straight on 213 South directly to Chestertown will shave off several miles. Please note: in lieu of hill-climbing, we'll have HEADWINDS for part of the route. Please bring sunblock, due to minimal shade. Please allow at least 90 mins drive time from Philadelphia (I-95S to DE-1, DE-299W to US-301S into MD. US-301 to MD-291 to MD-213) .     Level C+: 14mph, 35-80 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Various friendly rides per DAILY RIDE CALENDAR departing FROM THE PARKING ATTENDANT BOOTH at specified time and ranging 35-80 miles. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube, tire irons and multi-tool. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Please be familiar with the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia Rider Guidelines for COVID-19 Mitigation, and bring a mask for the rest stop. Preregistration required.
