Fri July 19, 2019 - Early Morning Friday Frolic w/Linda, to Beat the Heat. Whole Foods Double-Header from Jenkintown to Plymouth Meeting.
Level B-: 14mph, 41 miles. Meet at Jenkintown Whole Foods Market, on the Fairway. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. EARLY MORNING RIDE TODAY, DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT IN THE AFTERNOON. This is a pretty loop from the Whole Foods Market in Jenkintown to the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting. Outbound via Abington, Oreland, and Blue Bell. Indoor rest stop at the Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting at the half-way mark (mile 20). Return via Spring Mill, Flourtown, and Glenside. At the rest stop in Plymouth Meeting (mid-way), there is an indoor dining area, so, we can take advantage of the air conditioning. On the return, if another water stop is needed, there is an option to stop at Wawa at mile 29 or mile 32. Total elevation gain is 1875 ft, per RidewithGPS.com. Mostly rolling terrain - tallest climb is 380 ft. Meeting point at Whole Foods Market: park at far end of lot, near the Rydal Park senior apts. GENERIC DESCRIPTION: Scenic adventures by bike on most Fridays, throughout the year. Explore pretty, peaceful roads in suburban counties -- Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, etc. Starting points will vary, so that we can cycle through different regions. Please check daily calendar for details of each Friday's route -- terrain, mileage, rest stops, etc. Cue sheets and on-line route map provided for each ride. As long as we are enjoying outdoor exercise, and Mother Nature, in the company of friends, we'll have a memorable outing. Cue sheets will be available. Fri July 19, 2019 - Art Museum to Ikea Conshohocken Beat the Heat Ride (ad-hoc ride).
Level C- through D: 11-12mph, 27.6 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:30 am. This is a simple out and back, mostly flat ride to Ikea in Conshohocken via SRT and the Mid-County Trail (paved). We will leave at 9:30 am and expect to be back before 1 pm to avoid the afternoon heat. Ikea has a recently enlarged cafe with coffee, cinnamon buns, cool drinks, ice cream, hot dogs, pizza slices, and air conditioning. The route has long stretches of shaded, paved trails. Bring water, a spare tube, money for our mid-ride stop, and a cool attitude. Helmets required. Cue sheets will not be available.

Sat July 20, 2019 - Belmar Beach NJ Ride by David Kaplan.
Level B: 15-16mph, 65 miles. Meet at Rocky Brook Park NJ 08535. The ride leaves at 7:30 am. CHANGE START TIME TO 7 30 AM DUE TO HEAT. Please join me as I am lending ride from Rocky Brook Park NJ to Belmar Beach and Asbury Park NJ. We will meet at Rocky Brook Park NJ, at 899 Perrineville Rd, Perrineville, NJ 08535. The ride will leave at 8:30 am. This is very scenic route down to the Belmar Beach. The tentative GPS route is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30504408 which is approximately 65 miles with 1675 feet of elevation. Level B ride, speed 15 to 16 mph. Must be able to maintain the pace. Lunch stop at Belmar Beach at Ocean Drive between 17th and 16th Avenues approximately at the 33-mile mark. I will be eating my lunch at 3 Brothers Pizza. Can do some short stops for bathroom needs and water as needed. Rain cancels the ride. Driving Directions is to go to the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) to exit 8. Continue to NJ-133. Use the right 2 lanes to merge onto Milford Road. Merge onto Milford Road. Turn left onto Etra Road/Etra Perrineville Road. Continue onto Ocean County 571/ Perrineville Road. Then turn right to stay on Perrineville Road. Then to down approximately 1 mile and turn left into Rocky Brook Park. Please feel free to contact the me with any questions. Sat July 20, 2019 - Lets Beat the Heat (ad-hoc ride).
Level B: 13.5mph, 35 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 7:55 am. A version of the Valley Forge Winter Ride, with an earlier start. We will ride 17.5 miles to the Kimberton Whole Food store in Kimberton, do an indoor iced coffee break, then ride 17.5 miles back to Valley Forge. We should be finished by 11:00am, well before the temperatures really kick in. Cue sheets will not be available. The on-line route map is Valley Forge Winter Ride: Saturday Edition.

Sat July 20, 2019 - Spring Mill Train Station to Wegmans in Collegeville.
Level B-: 14mph, 40 +/- miles. Meet at Spring Mill Train Station. The ride leaves at 8:00 am. Mostly flat ride to the Wegmans in Collegeville for a snack stop. The only hills are at the end of the SRT going up Indian Head, Cider Mill and Arcola Roads to Wegmans and Cider Mill back to the SRT. It will be hot so bring plenty to drink. Water and bathroom stops at Betzwood. Riders should be able to maintain the average pace. Faster on flats, slower on hills Cue sheets will not be available.

Sat July 20, 2019 - Main Line Cycles Brisk Ride.
Level A: 18mph, 40-55 miles. Meet at Main Line Cycles front of shop 919 Montgomery Ave. The ride leaves at 8:05 am. Great roads with low traffic. We have a few routes that bring us out around or through Ridley Creek State Park. Average speed will be 16-17 mph, but note that these routes include over 4000' of climbing. Bring a snack for a brief mid-ride break. Consider the on-line routes approximate. Leave by 8:05 AM. Rain cancels. Cue sheets will not be available. Level C+: 12-14mph, 45-60 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Friendly C+ ride with various destinations: BE SURE TO CHECK THE DAILY RIDE CALENDAR FOR RIDE LEADER AND DESTINATION INFORMATION. Bring money for lunch. We will regroup as necessary and wait at turns within ride level expectations. YOU MUST CARRY A SPARE TUBE. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time.

Sat July 20, 2019 - Orange Blossom Cafe, Riverton, NJ.
Level D: 10mph, 35 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Orange Blossom Cafe is in Riverton, NJ. So we will ride up though Port Richmond and Bridesberg, walk over the Tacony Palmyra Bridge and up the Delaware River bank to Riverton. Return via River Road and north Camden. Cycling over the new walkway of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Cue sheets will not be available. It is optional, but you may preregister until Friday, July 19, 2019 at 9:00 pm.

Level C+: 13mph, 48 miles. Meet at Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. GIVEN EXPECTED HEAT OF 114 DEGREES AND THE FIVE HOUR LENGTH OF THIS RIDE, THIS RIDE IS CANCELLED FOR SAFTEY REASONS. Saturday substitute ride for Joe Pless Toss of the Dice. Sat July 20, 2019 - CANCELLED Hills out West.
Level B: 14.5-15.5mph, 50 - 70 miles. Meet at Azalea Garden's formal entrance, behind the Art Museum. The ride leaves at 9:05 am. Consider this the next step up from the Toss of the DIce "C+", further (50 - 70 miles) and with more hills (3000 - 5000). The average speed (measured at end of ride) is likely to be 14.5 - 15.5 mph, it is the hills that push this into the B category. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. Bring food or money for snack along the way, as well as a spare tube. Check daily listing for route information. Ride may be cancelled up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Cue sheets will not be available.
